Export of Turkish industrial products hits record $123.5B in 8 months

The export of the industrial sector of Türkiye in January-August of this year reached a historical maximum of $123 billion.

Against the background of problems with the supply of raw materials, exacerbated by the global energy crisis, the Turkish industry continues to beat export records.

In eight months of this year, export sales of the Turkish industrial sector increased by 15.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The share of industry in Türkiye’s export basket was 74.3 percent.

Thus, 12 out of 16 branches of the industrial sector achieved record exports in the reporting period.

Record export figures in January-August of this year were registered in the following industries: textiles and raw materials – $6 billion 953 million, leather and leather goods – $1.32 billion, chemical products – $22.63 billion, ready-made clothing sector – $14.25 billion, electronics $9.62 billion, machinery and parts $6.53 billion, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy $9.93 billion, steel sector $15.32 billion, glass ceramics and ground products $3.72 billion, jewelry $3.57 billion, defense and aerospace $2.64 billion, air conditioning $4.37 billion.

The growth of the textile industry in January-August of this year amounted to 8.4 percent, leather and leather products – 21.1 percent, chemical industry – 41.9 percent, ready-made clothing sector – 10.9 percent, electronics – 6 percent, mechanical engineering and spare parts – 9.7 percent, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy – 30 percent, steel industry – 16.6 percent, glass ceramics and ground products – 24 percent, jewelry industry – 5.4 percent, defense and aerospace industry – 42.2 percent, air conditioning sector 9.2 percent.
