Istanbul airports host more that 35 million passengers in 2021

The two main airports of the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul have served more than 35 million passengers since the beginning of the year.

Passenger traffic at Istanbul Airport in January-August amounted to 20.97 million people.

According to the IGA company operating the air hub, the passenger traffic on domestic routes amounted to 6.29 million, on international – 14.68 million people.

During this period, the number of flights on domestic routes amounted to 47,500, on international lines – more than 116,000.

In total, the air harbor of the Turkish metropolis has served 163,600 flights in eight months.

At the same time, passenger traffic at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in January-August this year increased by 41% compared to the same period last year, to 14.93 million people.

In August, 3.1 million people used the services of the air harbor of the Turkish metropolis, which is 71% more than in the same month of 2020.

In the first 8 months of the year, passenger traffic at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport on domestic routes increased by 44% to 10.23 million.

Passenger traffic on international routes for the specified period increased by 34% – up to 4.7 million people.

Since the beginning of the year, the airport has served 106 thousand flights, which is 44% more than in the same period last year.
