The Turkish metropolis Istanbul was ranked first among the best cities in Europe to visit according to Travel and Leisure magazine.
Istanbul Gov. Ali Yerlikaya announced the news on his social media pages.
“Istanbul is the best among European cities. Istanbul is the number 1 city in Europe. According to a survey conducted by Travel and Leisure at the World’s Best Awards 2021, thousands of people have chosen Istanbul as their favorite. We are all proud of this, ”said Yerlikaya.
Istanbul ranked first in Europe with 91.32 points in an annual survey conducted by Travel and Leisure from Jan. 11 to May 11.
The appraisal article states that Istanbul, with its endless charm and historical landmarks such as Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia Mosque as well as modern structures such as Nisantasi and Galataport, has always been a crossroads of history.
Istanbul Airport was also highly praised by Travel and Leisure.
