More than 1 million tourists are expected in the southwest of Turkey

In the popular tourist areas of Kusadasi and Didim in southwestern Turkey, hotels are 90 percent full as of July 10. Representatives of the tourism industry expect more than a million tourists by the end of the season.

The head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Aydin province Umut Tunсer drew attention to the presence in the region of a large number of cultural and historical sights, some of which are included in the UNESCO heritage lists.

“The world famous Altınkum (Golden Sand) yarn is located in the Didim area. There is also the famous ancient temple of the god Apollo and the “city of philosophers” Miletus. All this attracts the attention of hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world, ”said Tunсer.

According to him, at the moment, mainly tourists from Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine come to Kusadasi and Didim. “Considering the approach of the Eid al-Adha holiday, we can confidently state that there will be no vacant rooms in hotels until August,” he said.

The head of the department recalled that in 2019 the flow of tourists to Aydin province reached 1.5 million people, but then decreased due to the pandemic.

We plan to close the current season with a bar of more than a million holidaymakers, Tunсer said.
