New COVID-19 strain identified in France

A new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been identified in France.

According to the French media, a previously unknown variant was identified in a traveler who returned from Cameroon.

The new coronavirus strain is designated B.1.640.2. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified it under surveillance.

It is noted that the traveler, who was found to have a new strain, infected 12 more people.

Virologists said that at the moment the new strain, in terms of its degree of infectiousness, does not pose a serious danger.
