Passenger traffic at Turkish airports exceeded 18 million since the beginning of the year

Passenger traffic at Turkish airports in January-February of this year exceeded 18 million people. This was announced on Tuesday by the General Directorate of State Airports of Turkey (DHMİ).

According to DHMI, in February, the passenger traffic at Turkish airports amounted to 9,392,145 people, and in the first two months of the year (January-February) a total of 18,673,015 people.

In February, 51,021 domestic and 32,401 international flights were operated from Turkish air harbors. The total number of flights including transit flights for the month amounted to 105,990.

The number of domestic flights in February increased by 11.7 percent compared to the same period last year, the number of international flights by 91.4 percent. The total number of flights increased by 41.3 percent year on year.

Passenger traffic on domestic lines in the second month of the year amounted to 5,222,997 people, and on international lines – 4,157,077 people. Thus, during the specified period, Turkish airports served 9,392,145 passengers, including transit ones.

Compared to the same period last year, passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 40.3 percent, on international flights – by 149.2 percent. Total passenger traffic in February increased by 74 percent compared to last year.

The volume of cargo transportation by air in Turkey (cargo, mail and luggage) in February this year amounted to 235,581 tons: 51,670 tons – on domestic flights and 183,911 tons – on international flights.
