Turkey aims to vaccinate over 50 million people

The vaccination process against COVID-19 in Turkey is showing good results.

On the day when the number of vaccinated people in the country reaches 50 million people, Turkey will be able to breathe a sigh of relief, professor Mustafa Necmi Ilhan, a member of the Social Sciences Council under the Ministry of Health and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Gazi University, told Anadolu Agency.

The professor recalled that as of June 22, more than 14.5 million people received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Turkey, and more than 29 million people received the first dose. The daily increase in the incidence of coronavirus in the last 15-20 days varies within 5-6 thousand, Ilhan said.

According to him, Turkey’s goal is to vaccinate more than 50 million people.

Referring to the topic of wearing masks, the professor said that citizens who received two doses of the vaccine can be outdoors without a mask, while maintaining a social distance of at least 2 meters.

“We are already seeing a similar pattern in parks, gardens and rural areas. Fully vaccinated citizens may not wear a mask outdoors, but they will have to observe the mask regime in crowded places, such as a post office, a bank, a shopping center, a cinema, ”said the professor.

Clean air definitely reduces the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission, he said.

In addition, the professor emphasized the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and frequent ventilation of the premises.

“If you travel on public transport or sit in restaurants with open windows, that is, there is a supply of fresh air, then the likelihood of transmission of COVID-19 is definitely reduced. Moreover, we are talking about fresh air, not conditioned air, ”Ilhan said.

At the same time, the interlocutor of AA drew attention to countries such as South Korea and Japan, where the population deliberately wears masks in order to resist all types of diseases and air pollution, noting the importance of creating the same awareness among Turkish residents.

The professor recalled that the age limit for vaccination in Turkey has dropped to 25 years.

“By the end of the month, every citizen over the age of 18 will have access to the vaccine they need everywhere. And this is a very important achievement, ”Ilhan said, urging the residents of Turkey to get vaccinated as soon as possible, observe social distance and personal hygiene measures.
