Turkey has become the most popular foreign travel destination in Russia

Turkey has become the most popular foreign tourism destination among Russian residents in 2021. Such data were given to reporters on Tuesday by the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze.

“There are 40 countries open, where you can go for tourist purposes, but the overwhelming majority of these countries are much inferior to Turkey in terms of the number of tourists and the number of flights,” Lomidze stressed.

According to her, since the beginning of the year, about 20 million citizens have rested within Russia.

Rest in Russia remains the most affordable option among budget alternatives, noted the executive director of ATOR.

“The most popular foreign destination is Turkey. According to preliminary estimates, by the end of the year it will receive 4-4.5 million Russian tourists. This is more than in 2020, but less than in 2019, when there were almost 6 million of our tourists in this direction, ”she said.
