Turkey plans to increase passenger traffic at country’s airports to 216.6M by 2023

Turkey predicts an increase in the number of air transport passengers by 68 percent to 216,615,000 by 2023.

The General Directorate of State Airports of Turkey (DHMI) told Anadolu Agency that in 2021, the passenger traffic at the country’s airports amounted to 128.66 million, and by the end of the current year, a 50% increase to 193.28 million people is expected.

DHMI noted that the largest growth is expected on international flights.

If in 2021 the number of passengers on international flights amounted to 59.68 million people, then by the end of 2022 it is expected to grow by 55% – up to 92.73 million, and in 2023 – 102.7 million people.

In 2021, the number of flights in Turkey, including transit ones, amounted to 1.46 million, in 2022 the figure is expected to be 2.04 million, and in 2023 – 2,21 million.
