Turkey’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues

Turkey’s campaign to vaccinate residents of the country against coronavirus continues.

More than 116.84 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as part of the campaign launched on January 14, the Turkish Ministry of Health said Wednesday.

According to the ministry, a total of over 55.51 million people received the first dose, and about 48.93 million citizens were fully vaccinated.

Over the past day, another 33,366 patients have recovered from a dangerous illness.

Another 29,764 cases of infection and 246 deaths were recorded.

The pandemic began with the detection of the first cases of pneumonia of unknown origin in Wuhan, Hubei province in central China at the end of December 2019.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak of unknown pneumonia.
