Turkish mobile vaccination teams brave tough winter conditions

Turkey’s mobile vaccination teams brave tough winter conditions to ensure that the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic continues throughout the country and the vaccination rates do not decrease.

In the Gölbaşı district of Ankara province, in the village of Bezirhane, whose roads were closed due to heavy snow, the vaccinations of those who could not go to the hospitals were made by the mobile teams.

Dr. Pelin Erkalma Parsak, who is in charge of a mobile vaccine team, emphasized that they continue the COVID-19 vaccination at homes uninterrupted.

“We are vaccinating everyone who reaches us via the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS) or by phone and cannot go to health institutions. We are very happy despite the difficult weather conditions. We want everyone to have their vaccinations and complete their (booster) doses as soon as possible,” Parsak said.

Nurse Sevim Şakacı pointed out that some citizens could not go to hospitals because they were bedridden or had transportation problems, so they were vaccinated at home.

Explaining that they experience great difficulties from time to time due to the weather conditions, Şakacı said, “We reach the houses of the citizens under very difficult conditions. Sometimes our team car has difficulty crossing the roads. The weather is very cold. For example, right now, snow has entered my shoes, my feet are aching from the cold.”

Şakacı noted, however, that the people they help express their gratitude.,

“We get very good reactions from the people when we come to their homes. They thank our state for providing this opportunity and us for going to them,” she said.
