Vaccination with Turkish vaccine Turkovac begins in Istanbul

The Turkish-Japanese Friendship Hospital Çam ve Sakura in Istanbul on Thursday began administering the domestic vaccine Turkovac.

The drug is already being used to vaccinate residents of the capital Ankara.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca was vaccinated with the homegrown vaccine as a booster dose in Ankara City Hospital.

Koca urged his compatriots to give preference to the domestic inactivated vaccine.

The Turkish Ministry of Health previously issued a permit for the emergency use of the Turkovac vaccine.

Serial production of the vaccine is organized in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa.
