WHO urged to vaccinate children and adolescents against coronavirus

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced for the first time that children can be vaccinated against the coronavirus. This is stated in the updated guidelines on the organization’s website.

The guidelines state that children and adolescents tend to carry the coronavirus in a milder form compared to adults.

“Therefore, if they are not in a group with a higher risk of severe COVID-19, they need to be vaccinated less urgently than older people, people with chronic diseases and health care workers,” the WHO website says.

Earlier, the organization spoke about insufficient data on the effect of vaccines against COVID-19 on children, therefore it did not advise to vaccinate children.
