Türkiye’s foreign direct investment rises 21%

The volume of foreign direct investment in the Turkish economy in the first half of 2022 increased by 21% compared to January-June last year, to $5.45 billion, the Investment Office of the Presidential Administration of Türkiye said.

In general, over the past 12 months, foreign investors have invested $14.77 billion in direct investments in the Turkish economy.

The largest inflow of direct investment to Türkiye was recorded from the Netherlands ($590 million). The top 3 also included Switzerland – $513 million and Germany – $211 million.

In terms of sectors of the economy, the largest volume of foreign direct investment since the beginning of the year was attracted by the processing industry and the trade sector (31%).

This is followed by the communications and communications sector (11%).

The head of the Investment Office of the Presidential Administration of Turkey, Burak Dadlioglu, attributed the growth in foreign investment to the active recovery of the Turkish economy against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.
