No COVID-19 deaths in Turkey’s Izmir for 2 days in a row

There have been no deaths from COVID-19 for two days in a row in the province of Izmir in western Turkey, Izmir Gov. Yavuz Selim Köşger said.

“Dear residents of Izmir, for the first time since Aug. 24, 2020, there have been no COVID deaths in our city for two consecutive days. In addition, we have reached the lowest level that we have seen in a long time – 104 cases per day,” wrote Köşger on Twitter.

He also said about 3.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been distributed in Izmir.

“Let’s get vaccinated. Let’s do it together,” Köşger urged.

Izmir is the third most populous province in Turkey. This region on the Aegean coast is home to 4.37 million people.
