Russia resumes flights with Turkey from 4 cities

Air travel with Turkey from four Russian cities has been resumed, the Russian government said in a statement.

Starting from Sept. 21, flights to Turkey will resume from Pskov, Magadan, Murmansk and Chita.

In addition, flights are being resumed between these cities and Egypt.

The Russian government has also decided to resume air traffic with Spain, Slovakia, Kenya and Iraq.

Russia almost completely suspended flights to Turkey in April this year, citing the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Some flights were restored at the end of June, which made it possible for thousands of Russian tourists to travel to Turkish resorts.

Some 2.13 million Russians visited Turkey last year despite the pandemic, the highest of any country.

A record 7 million Russian tourists visited Turkey in 2019.
