Turkey increases spending on education and defense

Turkey plans to increase spending in many areas in 2022, including education, defense and social services. This was stated by the vice-president of the country Fuat Oktay, commenting on the main articles of the draft state budget of Turkey for next year.

According to him, in 2022, Turkey’s budget expenditures are projected at the level of 1 trillion 750 billion 957 million Turkish lira, revenues – 1 trillion 472 billion 583 million lira, the deficit – 278 billion 374 million lira.

The largest item of budget expenditures will remain the education sector, which will receive 15.6 percent of all state budget expenditures next year.

“273.5 billion lira will be spent on education, including higher education, in 2022. This is 29.4 percent more than this year, ”Oktay said.

The vice president further said that the draft state budget of Turkey for 2022 provides for the allocation of 181 billion lira for defense, which is 29.6 percent more than this year (139.7 billion lira).

Expenditures on the social sphere are foreseen in the amount of 104.2 billion liras. 57.6 billion liras will be allocated to the agricultural sector, and 68.9 billion liras to support the real sector.

The share of spending on health care in the draft of the new state budget of Turkey has been increased to 7 percent, in general, 304.6 billion lira will be allocated to this area.

“The state budget for 2022 will be another step towards the green economic revolution and will bring us closer to achieving the stated goals,” the Turkish Vice President stressed.
