Turkish Airlines issues mandatory COVID-19 test reminder for domestic Turkey flights

Starting from Sept. 6, people who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 must present a negative PCR test when traveling on domestic flights, Turkish Airlines reminded its passengers on social media.

“In accordance with the regulation promulgated by the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, from September 6, on domestic flights, it is necessary to provide information on the past vaccination/past disease through the HES application – code or PCR test with a negative result, passed a maximum of 48 hours before the flight. In order to be able to request your compliance with the criteria for admission to the flight using the HES – code, you must give your consent to use the application Hayat Eve Sığar,” the airline said.

As part of a new string of measures aimed at combating the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and incentivize vaccinations, the Turkish government mandated a vaccination certificate or a negative coronavirus test for intercity domestic travel, including planes, buses and trains.

The tests or vaccination is also required to attend mass events such as concerts and cinemas.

Since January, more than 96 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Turkey.
