Turkish sends Ramadan aid to Tunisia amid virus outbreak

Turkey’s state-run aid agency on Wednesday sent food aid to 700 families in Tunisia as part of their Ramadan campaign.

The food packets were dispatched to the provinces of Gafsa and Kasserine, hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, according to a statement by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

The food packets include flour, sugar, oil, pasta, couscous, chickpeas, tomato paste, tuna fish, halva and semolina.

After originating in China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 185 countries and regions. Europe and the US are currently the worst-hit regions.

The pandemic has killed over 218,000 people worldwide, with 3.13 million infections, while more than 947,000 patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
