Türkiye dispatches 90 tons of medical supplies to Lebanon

Türkiye has sent 90 tons of medical supplies to Lebanon amid a deep economic crisis in the country.

A ceremony was held to receive the aid, attended by Lebanese Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad, Turkish Ambassador Ali Baris Ulusoy and Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in Lebanon, Orhan Aydin.

The Lebanese health minister thanked Türkiye for providing aid to Lebanon.

“This is not the first shipment of aid that Türkiye has offered to the Lebanese people and government,” he said.

The minister noted that part of a hospital that is being built by Türkiye in the city of Saida will partially go into service in September.

Ambassador Ulusoy, for his part, said the aid shipment shows the Turkish solidarity with the Lebanese people.

He voiced hope that the Turkish Hospital in Lebanon will be put into service soon.

Since late 2019, Lebanon has been grappling with a severe economic crisis, including a massive currency depreciation as well as fuel and medical shortages.
